Just catching up

Well, I figured it was time to catch up on my blog. It is summer break in the Russ household! Yipee! Finally, this week I feel like I am settling into a routine and my comfort zone as a "summer stay-at-home mom". It was a big adjustment for me with two, but I am finding myself content with just staying at home and being with my boys. I must say that is a different for me since I am a woman on the go! Don't get me wrong, we keep busy. I've been trying to walk in Mom's neighborhood every morning, visit my grandma, and take Drew swimming. Oh and of course, go to Publix and Fresh Market maybe once a week. If I don't Drew has withdrawals from Publix's cookies and Fresh Market's candied pecans (or as he says PEE-CONES with a great southern accent).

Cameron is growing so fast. I was just looking at pictures of him on my cousin's facebook page and was amazed at his growth. He will be 10 weeks old on Saturday. He is the sweetest thing. He is so good and so content. He doesn't fuss much. Usually only when he has a dirty diaper or hungry. He is happiest when I am in sight and I LOVE it. He is smiling and cooing a lot now. He also has thrush right now. YUCK! I don't know how he got that, but Sunday evening he was "talking" to me I discovered white bumps all over his tongue. Leslie had to tell me what it was. So, he is on antibiotic for next 10 days. He had to do a purple swabbing treatment today because it wasn't looking much better. Poor little fellow!

Speaking of doctors, both went to see Dr. Albino today. Drew for his 2 1/2 year old and Cameron for 2 months. This is the first time Drew really could comprehend and understand where we were going today. He kept saying, "No docker (doctor) Mommy". He cried most of the morning. I was wondering why I opened by big mouth about where we were going today, but he asked me a million times this morning, "mommy, where we going?" He does this every we go to get ready to go somewhere. Sometimes I just say China! ha! The other day he said he wanted to go to China. :) Thankfully Mom was able to slip away an hour or so from being with my grandma in the hospital to help out at the doctors. It was quite a task to keep up with a 2 1/2 year old and concentrated on what Dr Albino was saying about Cameron. Drew was excited because Dr. Albino let him play with her stethescope. Just like Curious George does! He even called her by her name. The cutest thing.

Both are growing too fast for me. Drew is 40 lbs and 40 inches. Just like a 4 year old!! He still is unchartable on her graph. :-) He is destined to be a UF football player. My guess is somewhere on the defensive line. Cameron was 14.8 lbs and 24 inches. Chunky Monkey! He was in the 95 percentile on everything. We were looking back at Drew's 2 month check up and he was 15.4 lbs and 25 3/8 inches. Cameron is a shrimp compared to Drew I guess. Maybe a quarterback instead of defensive line.

I will be teaching 5th grade next year. I'm starting to look forward to it. I really would have preferred to stay put, but that's not how it goes most of the time. Brad & I were able to move my stuff to my new room Wednesday. Now I just have to go organize and decorate. I'm looking forward to that.

We are heading up to North Carolina next Wednesday morning. We are looking forward to getting away. Drew will sure be glad to see Alma and Chloe. I guess everyone for that matter. He keeps asking where Gah is. I know Gah will be happy when she can rock Cameron again.

Until next time.......

Cameron is growing so fast! Fifth Grade is awesome, you'll love their level of independence compared to your third graders.

Glad I was able to be with you and the boys yesterday for a while. Drew was so funny yesterday. Wanted to stop by Sans and get a pretzel. I also enjoyed the weekend shopping and cooking and just watching you all have fun on the slip and slide.
Love you all so much!

Drew is a big ole brutus! Good gravy! Josie IS 4 and only weighs 37 pounds. Jake weighs in at a whopping 30 :) That's crazy that Drew weighs more than both of mine! You definitely have a defensive ball player on your hands! I'm SO happy to hear that Cameron is such a good baby.
