What the heck?

Yesterday morning, Drew was playing out on the sun porch with all of his toys. He came running in holding his diaper area saying, "pee pee Mommy". What the heck? So, I of course asked him if he wanted to go to the big boy potty (as I refer to it). Usually he whines and says, "no Mommy". This time, he looked a little scared, but grabbed my hand and walked to the bathroom. I stripped him down and put him on the toilet. He went pee pee! Brad & I didn't know what to think. We weren't prepared for this moment. Where did this come from? We cheered and he got excited so we busted out the M & M's as most parents do. He did it six more times that morning. He was even trying so hard one time he did #2 by mistake. We weren't really prepared for this occasion and had several errands to run that day. So, I was trying to figure out how we could just stay home and make the most of this occasion. But......yesterday was my last day off and I had several things that had to be done. He of course used the potty in his diaper a time or two while we were out, but did hover the toilet in Target and in my class that day. I warned Grandma Dee that she might have her hands even fuller today. When I picked him up this afternoon she said he wasn't the slightest bit interested in the toilet today and said he said his infamous, "DONE", when the subject was brought up. This evening, however, he decided he wanted to sit on it again. Yeah Drew!

I am guessing this all has to do with big cousin Raleigh. He spent most of the day with us on Friday. Drew followed Raleigh and I to the bathroom every time Raleigh had to go and closely observed. Last Monday after talking with Dr. Albino, I had put the potty training aspect on the back burner until this summer. She thought it would be best with the new baby coming to wait. Also, she feels that with him just turning two he is still a little young to try and force it. So, I decided to follow her advise and not push the idea.

So whether this is just a fluke or he is really getting serious about it is yet to be known. I'm hoping this is the real thing. If not at least he doesn't seem to be afraid of the idea anymore.

Two is young for a boy, he is interested because he wants to be like Raleigh. But he may not physically, or emotionally be ready.

Brooke had Aubrey trained and then after Landon was born, she lost ground, and Brooke diapered her back up for six months. That time, all went smoothly. So she isn't even trying Landon yet, and he turned two in September. She is waiting until summer. Boys have a harder time, in general.

I waited until my girls were past two, and Zach well over 2 1/2, and never had any issues with either. With age comes better control!!

Back to regular life, now with the holidays over. Seems so quiet and calm, and the house looks so bare, without all the pretties up.

Wishing you a great day Miss Jen!!
Take care Sweet Pea,
Love and prayers, Robin/Halo.

Way to go Drew! Whatever reason he did it, at least he is trying. That's the most important thing!

Good for you...and Drew....it was nice to only be buying one size of diapers...Steph did just what Drew is doing and it was a fun thing around two and then a week after Olivia was born the Easter bunny brough panties and we had been stating the mantra, No more diapers when the Easter Bunny comes...whala...trained...she was 27 months old...so good for him!

At least there is an interest there! I would not stress about it and just let him do what he likes. For your sanity you may just want to let this roll and if he wants to use the potty let him but don't fight him. Diapers for two is a lot, but I would rather do that than fight a child about it. Remember when the baby comes, Drew is going to want to be your baby also!! I can't wait!

Yahoo Drew!!! Way to go! That would be great for you if he is all trained up before the baby comes.
